The2FunAdGuyz offer a new reproduction print of a 1904 lithographic poster for Republican President Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. A head-and-shoulders, red white and blue portrait of "TR" is featured inside an oval surrounded by a patriotic border. This was President Roosevelt’s first campaign for President since he had ascended (as the Vice-President) to the Presidency after the shooting of President William McKinley in 1901. The Democrats had nominated a relatively obscure candidate, Judge Alton B. Parker. Roosevelt crushed him in both the popular vote and the Electoral College.
The slogan at the bottom simply reads: “OUR PRESIDENT”.
Artist: We have been unable to identify the artist, though there is a mirrored “BB” in the lower left of oval. If anyone knows of any artist who used that monogram we would appreciate knowing.
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: Theodore Roosevelt simply cannot be described in a few words. Which is why he is intriguing. To the above words you could add Progressive Republican, trust-buster, square-dealer, historian, Noble Peace prize winner, naturalist, cowboy, explorer, hunter, independent, author, activist, moralist, populist, asthmatic, physical fitness advocate, boxer, Harvard graduate magna cum laude, rancher, deputy sheriff, Governor, Vice-President, conservationist and Medal of Honor winner. His critics might want to add imperialist, reckless and meddler to the list. Historians generally rank him among the top five presidents and he is one of the four presidents featured on Mount Rushmore.
