Dodge City Cowboy Brass Band Music New Photo Western Americana Print Old West Photograph

Product Description
The2FunAdGuyz offer a new print of a remarkable 1885 photograph featuring the Dodge City, Kansas Cowboy Brass Band. This photo offers a rare look at the role of music in the American West. Eighteen men with their brass instruments and drums are pictured wearing their chaps, hats and boots. Many have six shooters, either stuck in their belts or in holsters. The conductor is alledged to have directed the group using a six-shooter as a baton. That surely must have been a powerful incentive to keep the beat.
A flag behind them reads: Presented Dodge City Cow-boy Band, J. Snider & Co."
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: The band had been organized in the late 1870s. Working cowhands were the members, although some disputed that claim. The band even traveled to Washington D. C. to play in the inaugural parade for President Benjamin Harrison. Unfortunately, the band was disbanded shortly after the event.
ORIGINAL MEDIA: The Genelli, Hulbert Brothers Studio in St. Louis did the original photograph that was used for this new print.
