Product Description

The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high quality reproduction print of a magnificent and richly designed, 1890 Masonic Diploma used by Masonic Lodges to record the life and death of a member. Lithographic companies printed these ornate emblematic certificates and sold them either to individual members or to the lodges. They contained both Masonic symbols and traditional art icons of the era. The blank information lines are blank until the member achieved the appropriate degrees. The images and art are sure to intrigue Masonic researchers and interested parties since they give a view of the Masonic Lodges of the late 1800s.

An all seeing eye adorns the very top with a ribbon banner above that reads “AND GOD SAID ‘LET THERE BE LIGHT’ AND THERE WAS LIGHT.”

The large text above and below this reads “Masonic Diploma, EMBLEMATIC CERTIFICATE OF Bro. _______________________, No. _________.”

In the center are two cherubs holding a banner with the initials “A. F. AND A.M.”. Next is a tableaux that contains these symbols: a handshake, locked book, compass and square and the words “RAISED TO THE SUBLIME DEGREE OF MASTER MASON, ______ A.D. ______ A. L. Beneath those words are additional scenes surrounded by two columns, The one on the left is a globe and the one on the right an astral globe. Beside the left globe is a scroll with the words “INITIATED AS AN ENTERED APPRENTICE _____ A.D. _____ A. L.”. The right globe has a scroll that reads “PASSED TO THE DEGREE OF FELLOW CRAFT _____ A.D. _____ A. L.”

In the bottom portion of the diploma is a large banner-scroll on which two certifications occur. The certification on the left of the scroll reads: This is to Certify that _____________________ whose signature is in the margin hereof has been regularly Entered Passed and Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason and that he is now a member of _______________ No. _____ located at ___________________ And we recommend as such to all Masonic Brethern[sic.] wheresoever [sic.] dispersed. _________________ W. M., _________________ S.W., _________________ J.W., _________________ SEC.”. On the left margin is a vertical margin line with the Latin inscription: “Ne Varietur” and a line for the member’s signature. (The words “Brethern” and “wheresoever” are the spelling of those words in that era.

On the left side of the banner-scroll the certification reads “This is to Certify that _______________ No. ______ is a just and lawfully constituted Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons , working under a Charter from the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of __________Dated at _________this ___ day of _______________ A.D. ____ A. L. ____, _____________GRAND SECY.”.

Between the scroll and beneath it is a variety of Biblical and Masonic scenes. On the platform beneath the woman being comforted by an angel is an area to record the member’s death reading “CALLED FROM LABOR _______ A.D. ____ A. L., AGED _____________ YEARS”. There are two golden circles to allow for stamping.
