The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of a very rare, 1895 rowing crew lithograph by Auguste Donnay, the famed Belgian artist and lithographer.

Donnay created this Art Nouveau image as part of a promotional campaign for a regatta in France. Using his signature bold, rich colors, he portrays a single, powerful rower passing in a shell on a river while a young woman in a colorful and very unusual hat looks on. The plumage on the hat has created the image of a bird. A man in a sailboat looks on from the upper left, as does a man on the far right. Donnay creates a work that really separates itself from other commercial art of the era.

This poster also answers the age-old question: “Why do crew members row?” The answer: “They want to win the admiring glances of women!”

This stunning, powerful image can effectively be used in the decor of almost any room, particularly a home bar, pub, library, or game room.

ARTIST: Auguste Donnay (1862-1921) was from the French speaking part of Belgium. Auguste Donnay soon created commercial art, including illustrations for books and magazines. However, Donnay’s poster work is where he excelled. Tragically, Donnay suffered from chronic depression and committed suicide.
