Welcome to The2FunAdGuyz collection of rare vintage posters, art prints, ads, advertising, historical documents, rare photographs and all sorts of ephemera.

The2FunAdGuyz is based in central New Jersey, which places us in the midst of some of the most historically important areas in America. During the Revolutionary War, George Washington crossed the Delaware River just a few miles down the road. Our favorite movie theater in Philadelphia is a block from Independence Hall. Bucks County Pennsylvania and Princeton, New Jersey are just a few miles away. As a result, we spend several days a week scouring the area for historically significant advertising posters and advertising prints that can be reproduced. Restoring these posters and prints to their former glory consumes the rest of our time. However, for The2FunAdGuyz the fun has only just begun. Before offering the item for sale, we research the subject matter so that buyers have at least a glimpse of the significance of what they are buying. We want you to enjoy reading about the material as much as you will enjoy shopping, owning and eventually preserving it.

The2FunAdGuyz, like many of our customers, started as collectors, intrigued by the power early advertising had on the world. As our collection grew, friends began asking us for prints and, as the saying goes, the rest is history. In 2003 we successfully started selling our prints and posters on eBay®, becoming eBay Power Sellers® within a few months and maintaining a 99.9% positive favorable feedback rating from our customers. We still sell on eBay. We are passionate about advertising and historical artwork and share our passion with our customers, who we treat as our friends.

Here on The2FunAdGuyz.com you will find items that will catch your eye, touch your heart, and many times your funny bone. Our collection of early vintage theater posters will have you rolling in the aisles, especially the vaudeville and burlesque posters. Lincoln's last formal photograph will touch you as you see etched on his face the terrible toll that the Civil War imposed on him. Our collections of minstrel posters will show you how many of the horrific stereotypes of African-Americans were created. The patriotism of our World War I & World War II poster collections will help you better understand the nature of those two conflicts.

The2FunAdGuyz believe that every person and their family should have the ability to have quality historical and advertising memorabilia at a reasonable cost. We use high quality paper (in our descriptions we always state the type and weight of all paper used) and have one of the best digital laser printers available to professionals.

Here is our Vintage Nurse Poster, Print And Photograph Collection information including our Red Cross Poster Collection.

One of our most popular collections is our nursing recruitment posters from World War I and World War II. These make great gifts for nurses and for remembering your favorite nurse on National Nurses Day. They are especially important because many of America's most famous artists and illustrators of the time were involved in their creation. These artists include Harrison Fisher, Haskell Coffin, Hayden Hayden, Howard Chandler Christy, James Montgomery Flagg, Carl Rakeman, Thomas Tryon, Cornelius Hicks, Gordon Grant, Edwin Howard Blashfield, Herbert Andrew Paus and Hubert Chapin. Of course at the heart of the nursing effort of these wars was the American Red Cross. We are proud to have a large photograph of the favorite photo of American Red Cross founder, Clara Barton. In fact, Clara Barton selected this particular photograph as the one she wished to be remembered by. Especially poignant is a French poster remembering the heroic British nurse, Edith Louisa Cavell, who was executed by German soldiers. Cavell had helped hundreds of World War I Allied soldiers escape from Belgium. The writings of John Greenleaf Whittier were used on one poster in this collection. Among the diverse groups that sponsored fund-raising efforts were both the New York Stage Women's War Relief and the Federal Council of the Churches of Christ in America. Click here to see all of our nurse and nursing posters. You should also view all of our Public Health Posters that were used against the campaigns against syphilis and venereal diseases following World War I.

Firefighter Posters, Fireman Prints and Firemen Photographs comprise one of our most-visited sections, particularly since they make nice firefighter gifts.

Vintage Firefighter Posters capture the high drama and heroics displayed by firemen from the earliest of times. Firefighters, their fire trucks and their fire equipment were always a matter of curiosity. Volunteer Fire Companies gave way to professional Firemen. Suddenly, steam fire engines and equipment gave way to fire trucks and other fire equipment that quickly began to appear in the firefighter posters of the day. However, what dominated these firefighter posters is the men, and eventually women, who fought the fires. To be a member of a Fire Department was an honor and our Vintage Firefighter Fire Department Certificate by Currier & Ives can be a great gift for a firefighter, since you can fill in their name and local fire department right on the certificate.

The famed lithographic printers Currier & Ives produced some of the most memorable of nineteenth century firefighting scenes. Nat Currier was himself a member of a volunteer fire department, in New York City, where the FDNY serves today. These Currier & Ives Firefighter Prints capture the enormity of big city fires that could destroy entire blocks. Currier & Ives also produced a series of Darktown Fire Brigade posters that were decidedly racist and demeaning, but we believe they form a part of our history that should not be ignored.

In much the same way that Steam Fire Engines replaced handpumpers, lithographic firefighter prints gave way to the art of fire photography. Action photographs of fire fighters and the amazing variety of their equipment form a large part of our collection, made especially memorable when they are enlarged to an 11X17 size. Firefighters from around the world are represented including very rare photos showing the Constantinople and Tokyo fire departments. Horse drawn fire engines racing to a fire, firemen dramatically scaling ladders and making rescues create many memorable fire department photos and prints that we have available. Dramatic firefighting photos in the collection are from the San Francisco Earthquake and the tragic Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York City. For New York Fire Department FDNY we have a series of WPA posters that show the FDNY history in a series of four posters.

Our Irish Posters, Photographs of Ireland, Irish Photochroms and Prints of Ireland reflect the influence Ireland, Celtic culture and the Irish people, have had on the world.

The2FunAdGuyz Irish prints reflect every aspect of the history of Ireland and are rich in the symbols of Ireland including the shamrock, bagpipes and Irish wolfhound, which are in many of them. Of course, the story of St. Patrick forms the basis of many of the Irish prints. The recruitment posters for the Irish Units of the British Army in World War I offer unique insights into the Irish character. The deeds of Irish hero and Victoria Cross winner Michael O'Leary are celebrated on one recruitment poster. The words of Joseph Devlin form the basis for another Irish Recruitment poster. Currier & Ives Irish prints include the stunning Irish Beauty and a unique portrait of St. Patrick. There are Irish theater posters for shows like the Irish Rebellion. Sports posters include the legendary Irish boxer, Terry McGovern. Our Irish Photos, many done from early 1900s photochroms include spectacular views of Ireland's countryside and great Irish cities including Dublin, Ireland. The landmarks in these photos include St. Patrick's Cathedral and Phoenix Park in Dublin. Irish countryside photos feature jaunting carts, Irish peasant farmers and Irish Colleens. Several Irish Images by Ellen Clapsaddle have been turned into Irish prints for this collection.

The2FunAdGuyz World War I Posters and Print Collection Is Perhaps Our Greatest Effort.

World War I occurred in the midst of the Golden Age of Poster Art. In the mid-eighteenth century, the printing technology of stone lithography was developed. Lithography allowed for a cost effective method of producing large, colorful posters. The technique quickly recruited the most famous artists in Europe and America, many of whom embraced the new technology. In France, artists such as Theophile Alexandre Steinlen, Misti, Eugene Oge and Alphonse Mucha were creating advertising posters. When World War I broke out, the Governments of the World adopted advertising art posters as an important method of reaching their population in order to recruit soldiers, raise war bond revenue, demonize the enemy and appeal to their population to conserve resources. These recruitment, home front and propaganda posters were done by some of the most popular illustrators of their time. In the United States of America, lithography had helped create a burgeoning magazine publishing industry and a whole stable of famous artists that were recruited to help produce posters for the war effort. James Montgomery Flagg, Howard Chandler Christy, Harrison Fisher, Haskell Coffin and brothers J. C. and F. X. Leyendecker were just a few the famous artists who threw themselves into the war effort. Governments, however, were not the only institutions involved in the war. Civilian and Religious organizations provided support and services to aid soldiers and civilians alike. World wide the Red Cross mobilized nurses to care for the wounded victims, soldiers and civilians alike. The Salvation Army went to the front lines and trenches to deliver food and beverages. The Young Men's Christian Association, YMCA, the Young Women's Christian Association, YWCA, provided front line and home front services. The American Library Association mobilized to bring books to bases at home and abroad. The United Churches of Christ and the Presbyterian Church were among the religious organizations that provided needed services to soldiers and civilians.

When World War I ended, another battle was just beginning-the fight against the plague of venereal diseases including gonorrhea and syphilis. Once again posters became an important weapon in this public health battle. Because of the shame and sanctions against soldiers who became victims, these disease often went untreated. Returning servicemen infected their wives and girlfriends. The Public Health Posters produced during the post World War I era became a major tool in the education of educating a public largely ignorant about sexually transmitted diseases.

The2FunAdGuyz World War II Posters, Prints, Photos, Photographs and Vintage Magazine Advertising Collection grow rapidly.

By the beginning of World War II, printing technology and poster art had both reached new levels of sophistication. When Germany, Italy and Japan began the quests for world denomination, the artists were once again called into action. Country by country they responded until a virtual army of artists-armed with their brushes, pencils and canvas as weapons-enlisted in the all out war effort. Production, Motivation, Military Recruitment, Resource Conservation and Raising of War Bond Revenue were once again the goals. Automobile factories became bomb factories. Housewives became factory workers. Children became recyclers. Factory walls, schoolroom walls, even the windows of homes became billboards urging every nation's citizens to become citizen-soldiers on the battlefront and the home front. In America Rosie The Riveter became a symbol for millions of homemakers manning assembly lines, motivating these women to do more. Active-duty military artists like Jim Lovell did some of the most famous World War II recruitment posters like the famous one depicting the raising of the United States flag at Iwo Jima.

The2FunAdGuyz World War II photographic collection includes many actual combat photographs and official World War II Office of War Information photos. Among the combat photos are those capturing the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor the morning of December 7, 1941. These Pearl Harbor attack photos capture the raw emotion and the daring heroism of that fateful morning. Official United States Navy photographers capture the USS California, USS Tennessee, USS Arizona and the USS West Virginia, showing the burning ship and the effort of their rescuers. We also have new prints of official photographs of military aircraft. Among the official photographs of World War II aircraft are The P-51 Mustang fighter, P-V1 Vega Ventura, the B-25 Mitchell Bomber, and the B-26 Martin Marauder. The World War II era General Sherman M-4 tank is the subject of a remarkable color photograph taken at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Recruitment posters are available for the United States Army, Army Air Force Marines, Navy and Merchant Marines are included in this collection.
