VINTAGE 1800S Antique FIRE EXTINGUISHER POSTER ad Firefighter

Product Description
The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high quality reproduction print of an 1800s era poster ad for Fire Extinguisher Mfg. Co that manufactured Babcock and Champion brands of fire equipment. In a series of stunning panels, this poster highlights what was state-of-the-art equipment for fire departments of the late 1800s. The poster reflects an intense debate that raged at this time. The debate centered on the methods used to quickly extinguish burning fires. Some used chemical while others favored using water. Since firefighters had to carry their water with them or at the very least had to set up a pumping operation after arriving at a fire scene, precious time could be lost, especially when chemical combustion was involved. Hence, companies like Babcock and Champion developed chemical fire apparatus that, they argued, allowed them to extinguish fires more quickly. This equipment ranged from units firefighters carried on their back to horse-drawn, even hand pulled wagons and carts. All of these are feature on this ornate poster.
DETAILS: The upper panel shows four firefighters atop a horse-drawn Chemical Hook & Ladder wagon. The panel below features four more firefighters on a more ornate Chemical engine with lots and lots of brass. To the left and right of the top panel, the poster shows 4 fire lamps of the era. Mid-left and right, there are panels with two back-carried units, complete with straps or harnesses. The extinguisher on the left side panel is labeled “The Champion Fire Extinguisher”. The extinguishers on the right side panel are labeled “The Babcock Fire Extinguisher”. On the bottom left and right are two small panels that each features a different hand-drawn chemical fire cart.
TEXT: The following text appears on the poster:
Top Banner reads “Fire Extinguisher Mfg. Co.”. Below the banner: “Manufacturers of Babcock and Champion”.

Bottom Text reads “Office and Factory, 315 to 323 South Desplaines Street, Chicago”.
