VINTAGE QUACK PATENT MEDICINE MEDICAL CURE POSTER

Product Description
The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of a stunning ad for patent medicines, or quack medicine as they came to be known.
This vintage style ad for Brandreths pills and Allcocks Porous Plaster features an unclothed boy sitting on a boat dock, next to a large black, probably Labrador, dog sporting a collar that reads Brandreth’s pills. A handbill is attached on the boy’s back that reads “Allcocks Porous plaster, Best in Use.” In the background is a sailboat with a mast that reads: “Brandreth’s Pills, Purely Vegetable.”
This real charmer works well in a country or early American decor style.
Brandreth’s Pure Vegetable Pills were among the most famous of patent medicines during the 1800’s. So well-known were they that Herman Melville wrote about them in Moby Dick, Henry Thoreau mentioned them in his journals and even Edgar Allen Poe mentioned them in his writings.
This is an incredible ad and a must for collectors of patent medicine ads and 1800’s advertising, which romanticized product through their artwork.
