Product Description

The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high quality reproduction, print of a very poignant 1917 United States World War I poster. A quote from John Greenleaf Whittier is the theme of this poster. The group of people, a nurse and other frightened, fleeing and injured civilians and soldiers, are seen beckoning to the left side of the poster on which is the Whittier quote. It reads: “America the hope of all who suffer—the dread of all who wrong. Whittier”

The caption at the bottom reads: “Save Food and defeat frightfulness—United States Food Administration.” John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892) was an American poet, Quaker and abolitionist. He was very popular though he is less well-known today. He may be best remembered for the words he provided for many popular hymns.

Herbert Andrew Paus (1880-1946) was the artist. Strobridge Litho Co. did the original lithograph on which this reprint is based.
